A Head of Bid and Account Management is now required to join a leading and innovative Energy and Engineering Consultancy to be based remotely initially but long term in Birmingham.
Key Work Activities include:
Strategy and planning
Refine and operationalise the bid strategy for this year and develop a bid strategy for future years
Identify and review new funding opportunities (public and private) that align with ESC’s overall strategy
Understand the value drivers of the business and identify profitable opportunities to grow revenue
Work with the Head of Finance and Head of Strategy to integrate the bid strategy and pipeline management with financial reporting and forecasting and portfolio management.
Overseeing bid management
Manage bid review audits & consortia landscape reviews
Design and operationalise new bid management processes and toolkits, building on existing processes and materials
Oversee development of bid and pitching materials.
Manage the team to ensure adherence to bid management process.
Providing advice to the executive team and business leaders on larger strategic opportunities from a bid strategy perspective.
Manage bids/development of commercial proposals
Lead interface with executive teams on bids inc. review and approvals of new opportunities and bid/proposal documents
Oversee milestones of all bids in flight
Ensure all bidding activities meet or improve on cost targets in line with bid strategy.
Review bid closures, including lessons learnt and evaluation feedback. Disseminate and embed changes required across the organisation
Reporting and monitoring
Devise and prepare monthly pipeline report to senior leadership team
Conduct monthly performance update against bid metrics
Conduct quarterly front-end pipeline quality checks
Collate and analyse business data pertaining to all commercial/bidding activities
Manage use of Salesforce including ensuring relevant information is captured within Salesforce and is analysed to provide useful strategic and operational information for the organisation
Maintain an awareness of external factors (including competitors, energy market developments, government business initiatives, current and proposed legislation) which impact the ESC bidding landscape, including forming relationships with key stakeholders who issue funding.
Commercialisation of ESC
Working closely with the Commercial Director, Business Leaders and the Marcomms Team, devise new materials for commercial marketing and pitches/proposals.
Build and skilfully deploy and operationalise the use of template proposals, CVs, case studies, testimonials, and credentials to enhance quality and efficiency of ESC’s commercial proposals
Contribute to concept and design of commercial marketing material
Supporting the Business Development Community of Practice to develop the BD capabilities of the organisation and advising areas of the business on use of CRM to manage leads and opportunities.
Establish and operationalise account management process for key accounts.
Lead an effort across ESC to be added to the supplier frameworks for key target clients.
Team management and collaboration
Manage a team of bid managers and procurement specialists (c.5 people)
Manage interaction between bid and procurement teams and the rest of the organisation
Manage the procurement team to develop procurement strategy to ensure best value for money for ESC, develop a sourcing plan to meet business needs, and conduct market analysis.

Impressive, demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s), at a similar level. Showing the ability to work to ambitious income/revenue targets
