The Head of Marketing is responsible for supporting VP of Marketing in the development and execution of the overall marketing strategy tosupport organic growth, client retention and client expansion efforts in the United Kingdom. This is a developmental leadership position, driving the country-specific marketing strategy and overseeing marketing program execution nationwide. This role works closely with the country field teams, sales leads and leadership as well as plays an integral role in the divisional marketing team, helping connect the dots between enterprise marketing and divisional programs to field marketing implementation.

This role is primarily focused on driving effective quality leads, opportunities and customer engagements through the design and application of targeted and meaningful marketing programs. The Head of Marketing is responsible for driving the annual marketing planning process, creating a standard GBS UK marketing strategy, planning process and template that can be leveraged within each sales region country-wide. This includes working with UK leadership team to determine the most effective way to align the marketing plans and initiatives with GBS UK/branch growth priorities. This role will have oversight for all GBS UK marketing plan development and will serve as the primary resource for field marketing questions, offering guidance and coaching to field marketing team members as well as setting expectations with GBS UK leadership regarding field marketing support. The focus for this role is on creating content and market presence for the Gallagher brand to drive growth opportunities. This position will afford the opportunity to collaborate across the divisional marketing team, practice area leaders, niche leaders and other subject matter experts.

  • Develop a field marketing strategy in line with the wider marketing strategy and drive national/branch-level marketing planning; provide oversight for region/branch marketing plan implementation working closely with identified GBS UK marketing leads and managers and other key stakeholders nationwide
  • Actively participate in the annual sales and marketing planning process, developing a process and template for GBS UK marketing planning that aligns with regional sales plans and divisional growth priorities and aligns with the wider strategy
  • Oversee the nationwide field marketing budget, providing coaching and guidance to GBS UK marketing leads during the annual planning process and throughout the year when assessing marketing spend; this includes providing best practices not only for annual planning with regions/branches but also regular reporting and connection to marketing program ROI
  • Oversee nationwide field marketing sponsorship requests, providing guidance and support for GBS UK marketing leads driving this process within their respective areas of responsibility; if approved, provide guidance and support to the regional marketing lead regarding the implementation of sponsorship opportunities including Gallagher brand presence and leveraging any tickets, etc.
  • Establish relationships with GBS UK leadership and branch leadership nationwide, creating clarity around marketing role expectations and how to best work together when it comes to successfully implementing the GBS UK marketing plan; this includes coaching and mentorship for the GBS UK marketing field team members
  • Establish strong working relationship with GBS UK sales leadership nationwide, regularly connecting to ensure alignment between GBS UK marketing and sales strategy; this role should have a regular cadence of communication with each GBS UK leadership team and provide best practices for GBS UK marketing lead communication to their respective leadership teams
  • Oversee and implement/execute GBS UK marketing campaign strategy/design and supporting participation in divisional campaigns (such as core content/thought leadership and brand campaigns)
  • Develop strategy, implement, and track GBS UK marketing campaigns to drive new leads and growth
  • Develop and implement paid media strategy
  • Serve as first point of contact for all field marketing-related questions and concerns before involving other divisional or corporate teams; act as a gatekeeper and ambassador in alignment with corporate/divisional marketing rules, guidelines and policies
  • Ensure the Gallagher brand is consistent
  • Oversee the tracking and measurement of field marketing efforts in driving growth and making recommendations to adjust strategies for improved ROI
  • Provide oversight for any GBS UK-developed content, working closely with divisional marketing team and GBS UK marketing leads
  • Promote cross-marketing opportunities - encourage greater learning, communication and sharing of ideas across the Gallagher marketing community; this may include hosting GBS UK marketing workgroups as well as actively participating in divisional marketing workgroups
  • Provide best practices and coaching to GBS UK marketing leads regarding merger partner marketing on-boarding; develop and execute merger partner brand transition and marketing integration strategy
  • Actively participate in the divisional marketing leadership team, supporting the development of common programs and initiatives including our core thought-leadership content; this role should actively create strong working relationships with other divisional marketing leaders to ensure an integrated marketing team and best practices are developed
  • Effectively coach and mentor the field marketing team with direct reporting responsibilities for the GBS UK marketing leads and the field marketing project manager lead.
  • Other duties as assigned by corporate/divisional marketing


  • Significant relevant leadership experience in B2B marketing of consulting services.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong technical skills across Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with SalesForce a plus
  • This position requires occasional travel


  • Proven record of successful client management/relationship building
  • Experience executing marketing projects that resulted in increased brand visibility and sales leads
  • Experience gathering details on market dynamics, client needs and technology, and leveraging this knowledge to create compelling and effective marketing strategies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Experience managing integrated digital and traditional marketing campaigns, including paid, earned and owned media channels
  • Experience managing market research projects
  • Experience creating marketing scorecards, dashboards or other relevant reports
  • Experience creating annual marketing plans
  • People leadership experience, and proven ability to develop less-senior members of the marketing team.
