Job Description

Within this role as an Estimator you will work alongside key personnel within the business to determine costs associated with completing the scope of work for client tenders.

You will have a varied and important role responsible for preparing cost estimates for both tenders and quotations.

You will receive RFQ’s from various sources for a range of products and services ranging from a few thousand pounds in cost to a few million. You will be tasked with assessing tenders to determine priority, managing multiple estimates at one time.

Analysing drawing, specifications and other documentation to prepare cost estimates, referring to previous projects for cost comparison. Using mathematical interpretation to determine quantity and costs associated with all materials and labour requirements.

You will also be tasked with preparing, issuing, receiving, reviewing and logging subcontractor proposals and pricing. Working closely with the Business Development Function to support and clarify any issues regarding the estimate during the award and start-up phase.

Co-ordinate with client on questions and clarifications during the bidding process. Assembling bid files inclusive of relevant development information required in preparation of estimates.

Maintain accurate up-to-date records for suppliers, subcontractors and clients.

Delivering bids on time for tenders closing.

Required Skills

Mechanical Engineering Degree or relevant qualification.

Experience within a similar large-scale manufacturing environment.

Hands on experience within a Mechanical Engineering led environment.

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.

Desired Skills

Practical engineering background, preferably with a formal apprenticeship background.

Experience within a similar role estimating for a manufacturer of OEM products as a Mechanical Engineering led estimator.
