Queen Mary University, University of London is seeking to appoint to the crucial role of Sustainability and Energy Manager.

The Estates and Facilities Directorate is core to the University’s strategic ambition to provide a world-class managed estate with excellent facilities for students and staff.  As part of the QMUL’s ambitious Strategy 2030, extensive focus will be placed on enhancing, growing and better utilising the QMUL estate portfolio to create a physical environment that supports our position as an inclusive, world-class university.  

The Sustainability and Energy Manager is accountable to the Head of Environmental Sustainability and will be responsible for operational monitoring of our energy performance. The post holder will be responsible for managing energy regulatory obligations, maintain a complete and accurate legal registers, this will include coordinating, quality checking and maintaining evidence for the environmental elements of all statutory reporting requirements such as the HESA (Higher Education Statics Agency).  You will also be responsible for promoting energy and carbon efficiency priorities and acting as the energy and carbon reduction champion, by coordinating energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives across the estate.

The post holder should be self-initiative and be able to improve the environmental performance of the Queen Mary's procured utilities, increase staff engagement on energy management and improve monitoring and reporting of our energy use. The post holder will also be required to provide day-to-day project management support to initiatives that aim to reduce our energy and water consumption, energy compliance as well as support its reporting requirements.
