Founded in 1975 with the aim of providing a complete education for boys and girls from the age of 4 – 18 years. The three St James Schools are based in London and Surrey. The Junior School and Senior Girls’ School are centrally located together in West London, close to Hammersmith and Kensington Olympia. The Senior Boys’ School is located in a 32-acre site in Ashford, Surrey.

Together, these independent schools offer a distinctive approach to education which provides for the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development of every child; they aim to provide an environment in which a pupil can discover all that is best within his or her own nature.

The role of a Governor is to act as “critical friend” to the School Leadership team and to help hold the Head to account. We are looking for someone that wants to spend time to get to know the School through a combination of attending events, visits and governor meetings. We are looking for a professional with a passion for education and relentless focus on achieving best outcomes for the School and its pupils.

The current governors contribute to the development of the School’s strategy, provide robust scrutiny of data, monitor compliance, provide advice and guidance, and actively challenge the leadership team to ensure that St James Schools are best they can be.

Time commitment:
The average commitment is 5 hours per month, although this will vary depending on the needs of the School.

For more information please contact Hayley Mintern (hayley.mintern@mrgpeople.co.uk) or Melanie Pye (melanie.pye@mrgpeople.co.uk) or call 07530 680 184 / 07530 734 568 for an informal conversation.

The Management Recruitment Group has been retained, as our exclusive advisor for this appointment and any third party or direct applications will be forwarded to them.

St James Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all employees to share this commitment. All employees must be willing to undergo child protection training and screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
