The Retail Strategist / Portfolio Manager drives development of the retail and commercial strategy. In this role he/she is supports the Retail director in building the capabilities of the organization, among which:
- Managing projects in the retail and commercial area
- Tracking status, timelines and interdependencies across the retail and commercial project portfolio
- Further developing the tenant attraction strategy for both retail and commercial assets in close collaboration with the retail and commercial teams
- Managing and executing the strategy for retail against targets and objectives
- Driving alignment with the sectors to represent the retail and commercial perspectives and requirements.
- Ensuring retail-adjacent offerings such as Supply Chain & Logistics, Asset Management, Facility Management, Rules & Regulations are developed in line with the broader offering to retailers and commercial parties
- Proposing and executing plans for early activation of retail and commercial within the project.
- Supporting retail and commercial tenant attraction by preparing key content and status of key enablers
- Continuously looking for trends and developments in the market that have an impact on the retail offering
Planning and Strategy
- As Retail Strategist you will routinely collaborate with the Retail & Commercial Director, and C-level executives providing insights, perspective, and guidance on retail strategy, technology, trends, and innovation.
- Your role combines design-thinking, strategy consulting, industry analysis, deal structuring, and enterprise architecture.
- In this role you will develop and drive the retail strategy and continuously drive to update the strategy in line with project’s vision.
Retail Development
- Drive innovation in retail by collaborating with retail brands, the innovation center and other companies
- Continuously drive and improve the customer experience for the retail and commercial locations
- Conduct regular customer surveys to identify strategic initiatives that can enhance the customer experience in the project.
- Facilitate and coordinate the creation of retail and commercial improvement plans
- Organize collaborations between retailers, improve the mix and allocation of retail Locations
People Management
- Strong leadership and coaching skills with proven experience in managing and developing a team.
- Positive and ‘can do’ attitude, flexible approach to learning and supportive team mentality.
- Bring experience building and leading high performing teams and have a track record of mentoring and developing people.
- Promote a high-performance working environment embracing project’s values
- Participate in setting performance requirements and recruiting for key positions across the retail team.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Min 10 years of experience in Retail development at a global brand or brand group
- Experience managing a multicultural team in all aspects of commercial leasing
- Strong experience in the retail industry in the Middle East (preferable Saudi Arabia)
- Experience developing retail strategy for different channels and shown capabilities to drive innovation in retail
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Strategy, Marketing or Finance/Economics
- Master’s degree preferred in a relevant field of business
- Shown experience in retail strategy and customer strategy
- English language, (Arabic preferred)
