Queen Mary University of London are seeking to appoint to the post of Health & Safety Manager (Science & Engineering) and Chemical Safety Adviser.
As postholder you will have responsibility for providing a comprehensive health and safety service to the Faculty of Science & Engineering. A significant part of the role will be concerned with ensuring that the health & safety risks arising from Science & Engineering operations are identified and managed appropriately. Additionally, you will provide comprehensive chemical safety advice and carry out the role of non-ionising Radiation Protection Officer across the university.

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and be Chartered or committed to continuing in a health and safety career pathway and working towards Chartered Member of IOSH or equivalent professional body. You will possess relevant experience gained within in a similar health and safety focused role in an organisation equivalent to the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering

The Faculty today provides research and teaching excellence across engineering, science and mathematics in five academic Schools (Biological and Behavioural SciencesPhysical and Chemical SciencesElectronic Engineering and Computer ScienceEngineering and Materials Science, and Mathematical Sciences), with diverse teaching programmes that include: Psychology, Mathematics with Finance and Accounting, Materials and Design, and Digital Audio and Music Systems Engineering. 

The Health and Safety Directorate
Queen Mary University of London’s activities are very diverse, leading to a complex role for the health and safety advisory staff. The function of the Health and Safety Directorate is to provide health, safety and fire safety advice, support, monitoring and training to enable Queen Mary to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation and promote a positive health and safety culture.
