Our esteemed client is on the look out for their next Director of Commercials to spearhead the next phase of the company’s growth. Our Client is one of Malaysia’s most prominent property developers that has been influential in developing Malaysia’s property development scene.
The Role
The role is the Director for their Strategic Commercial division that oversees the strategic planning and implementation of commercial initiatives across multiple departments, including Residential, Township, Industrial, Retail, JV and Partnership, and Ancillary Assets. The core objective is to foster transformative growth and sustainable value creation in alignment with the group’s long-term vision and market goals. This pivotal role entails providing strategic oversight on financial analysis and modeling efforts, spearheading complex management strategies, overseeing retail management strategies, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and advocating for the integration of sustainability principles and ESG considerations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development and execution of commercial initiatives across Residential, Township, Industrial, Retail, JV and Partnership, and Ancillary Assets, driving transformative growth and sustainable value creation for The Company.
- Develop and implement advanced performance management frameworks for enhanced monitoring and optimization of commercial activities, integrating cutting-edge analytics and predictive modeling techniques.
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance on financial analysis and modeling efforts for the Retail, Strategic Land Management, and Ancillary Assets Department, leveraging insights to inform strategic decision-making and capital allocation.
- Spearhead the formulation and evaluation of complex management strategies for investment, divestment, and restructuring activities within the Commercial Division, aligning with The Client’s long-term vision and market objectives.
- Oversee retail management strategies and operations, including leasing, tenant management, and customer experience enhancement, ensuring alignment with The Client’s brand identity and customer-centric values.
- Conduct in-depth financial feasibility studies and risk assessments for new retail ventures, utilizing scenario analysis and stress testing methodologies to mitigate potential risks and maximize returns.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the Commercial Division, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage and market leadership.
- Champion the integration of sustainability principles and ESG considerations into retail and commercial strategies and operations, ensuring alignment with The Client’s commitment to responsible business practices and environmental stewardship.
- Oversees identifying, negotiating, and managing joint ventures and partnerships within the Commercial Division. Responsibilities include market research, negotiation, legal compliance, financial analysis, strategic alignment, conflict resolution, and fostering innovation to drive sustainable growth and maximize market opportunities.
Requirements:
Education: Advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Professional certifications (CFA, CPA, etc.) preferred. Equivalent practical experience in strategic finance or commercial development will be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in strategic finance, commercial development, or related fields, with a proven track record of success in senior leadership roles. Extensive experience in strategic planning, financial analysis, and risk management, with a focus on driving sustainable growth and value creation.
Strategic Ability: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and anticipate market trends and opportunities, with a keen understanding of industry dynamics and competitive landscapes. Proven track record of developing and executing innovative commercial strategies to drive business growth and market differentiation.
Communication and Leadership: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams towards common goals. Strong leadership presence, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
