Position Title: General Manager, Main Contractor

Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Drive the full implementation of company policies, corporate objectives, and Quality Management Systems (QMS) across all construction sites.
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives within the Construction Division to support our growth in Malaysia.
- Identify and assess new business opportunities aligned with our regional expansion goals.
B. Project Planning & Construction Oversight
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise construction projects and inspection activities across all active sites.
- Ensure realistic allocation of manpower, equipment, and materials to support project execution plans.
- Lead the full construction management cycle from pre-contract to post-contract completion.
C. Performance Monitoring & Risk Management
- Independently analyze and track project performance against the master schedule and delivery milestones.
- Present comprehensive project reports—including progress updates, risk assessments, and mitigation plans—to top management and stakeholders.
- Monitor and address project risks, resourcing gaps, and scheduling conflicts with appropriate corrective actions.
D. Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
- Ensure seamless coordination between all contractors, consultants, and internal teams to maintain project momentum.
- Assist the Pre-Construction Team during client and contractor meetings to align expectations and scope.
- Hold regular site coordination meetings to streamline activities and resolve field-level issues promptly.
E. Procurement & Commercial Support
- Review and monitor procurement activities in line with the approved Procurement Plan.
- Ensure procurement timelines support project milestones and completion targets.
- Recommend procurement-related actions or adjustments for executive approval as needed.
F. Quality, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure effective implementation of QA/QC plans, focusing on construction scope, material compliance, and buildability.
- Collaborate with the HSE team to ensure site safety activities are aligned with project schedules.
- Actively monitor and resolve potential HSE issues that may impact the project timeline or compliance obligations.
G. Documentation & Governance
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate and complete project documentation and records.
- Ensure safe and compliant construction practices are implemented and monitored across all sites.
- Maintain strong client satisfaction by delivering consistent quality and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
H. Communication & External Relations
- Lead project impact mitigation planning in coordination with Project Leads and key stakeholders.
- Support community engagement efforts and manage communications related to project execution.
- Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by executive leadership.
Requirements
- Ideally a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. PMP or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
- 15–20 years of senior-level experience in construction and project management, ideally in retail, commercial, or infrastructure development.
- Demonstrated expertise in construction processes, contract administration, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong capabilities in drafting formal correspondence on contractual and operational matters.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Proven leadership with the ability to manage large, multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Teams).
- Competent in project management and design tools such as Primavera, AutoCAD, or similar software.
- Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
