The Executive Director – Commercial will oversee a multi-billion-dollar commercial portfolio, playing a pivotal role in the strategic delivery of one of the most ambitious developments globally. This is a fantastic senior leadership-level opportunity for a highly experienced, seasoned commercial executive who has worked and led senior-level commercial functions across large-scale, complex, and fast-moving developments and programs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Oversight
- Lead and manage a commercial team, including Senior Commercial Directors and Commercial Directors.
- Drive commercial strategy, governance, and best practices across all work streams.
- Ensure consistent delivery and control across cost, contracts, and commercial risk.
Cost Planning & Budgeting
- Develop robust cost plans based on benchmarks, market data, and historical insights.
- Establish comprehensive project budgets and coding structures aligned with project scope.
Cost Control & Financial Management
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets and track cost variances.
- Forecast project spend based on real-time performance data and progress metrics.
- Produce and manage project cash flows and updates to financial forecasts.
- Deliver high-quality cost reports for executive and stakeholder review.
Contract Administration & Claims
- Oversee contract execution, administration, and close-out procedures.
- Ensure timely and compliant payment processing, including final accounts and retentions.
- Manage contractual performance and ensure adherence to terms and KPIs.
Claims & Change Management
- Oversee and manage claims processes for time and cost under contractual obligations.
- Administer and evaluate all changes to contracts, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and risk thresholds.
- Advise on all matters of commercial compliance, financial exposure, and risk.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 20+ years’ experience in commercial leadership roles, with substantial exposure to high-value, complex capital programs (ideally >USD 2 billion).
- Proven ability to lead senior teams within a developer, PMC, or consultancy environment.
- Expertise in cost management, contract administration, claims, change control, and commercial reporting.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Experience in the Middle East and/or large-scale master planning or infrastructure developments preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, or similar. A master’s degree is advantageous.
