Electrical Project Manager  – Data Center Construction

We, on behalf of our client, are looking for a Electrical Project Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and delivering all electrical systems and infrastructure in the construction of a hyperscale data center. This role manages the full lifecycle of electrical work—from design coordination and procurement to installation, commissioning, and handover—while ensuring technical compliance, safety, quality, budget, and schedule are strictly met.

This position requires advanced understanding of mission-critical power systems, including medium voltage (MV), low voltage (LV), UPS, generators, switchgear, BMS/EMS integration, and grounding systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution & Technical Oversight

• Manage end-to-end electrical scope for hyperscale DC construction from pre-construction through commissioning.
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of:
• MV distribution systems (e.g., 33kV, 22kV)
• LV power (panels, cable trays, UPS)
• Emergency backup (diesel gensets, battery banks)
• Earthing and lightning protection
• Intelligent power monitoring systems (BMS/EMS/SCADA)

Design & Coordination

• Work closely with MEP consultants, design engineers, and general contractors to ensure electrical design aligns with project goals and hyperscale standards (e.g., AWS, Meta, Google).
• Provide value engineering suggestions for cost/time optimization without compromising performance.

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Define and review electrical material specifications (cables, switchgear, UPS, etc.).
• Manage procurement schedule for long-lead items.
• Coordinate with OEMs (e.g., Schneider, ABB, Siemens) and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and installation.

Construction Oversight

• Supervise on-site electrical works, QA/QC processes, and ensure full compliance with NEC/IEC, local codes, and safety standards.
• Approve method statements and risk assessments.
• Conduct daily/weekly reviews with site engineers and subcontractors.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Lead FAT, SAT, and IST processes for major equipment (transformers, UPS, switchgear).
• Coordinate commissioning schedule in alignment with mechanical and IT systems.
• Prepare closeout documentation including O&M manuals and as-built drawings.

Experience:

• 8–12 years in electrical project management within the construction sector.
• Minimum 3+ years of direct experience managing electrical scope in hyperscale data center projects or mission-critical environments.
• Familiar with Tier III/IV Uptime Institute design and redundancy requirements.

Technical Knowledge:

• MV/LV systems design and installation
• UPS topologies (N+1, 2N)
• Generator sizing and parallel operation
• SCADA, BMS, EMS integration
• Arc flash, short circuit, and load flow analysis
• Local electrical codes (e.g., MS IEC, IEC 60364, IEEE)
