The Estates and Facilities Directorate is responsible for planning, creating and delivering a world-class Estate, Facilities and Commercial Services. The Queen Mary Estate currently provides over 230,000M2 of academic and residential accommodation on three main campuses at Mile End, Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square, with further property holdings at West Smithfield, Lincoln’s Inn Fields and Dept W. As part of the QMUL’s ambitious Strategy 2030, extensive focus will be placed on enhancing, growing and better utilising the Queen Mary estate portfolio to create a physical environment that supports our position as an inclusive, world-class university.
The Queen Mary 2030 Strategy sets out an ambitious growth vision for the next 10 years. The strategy is underpinned by a suite of enabling plans. The Infrastructure enabling plan combines the direction of travel for both the Physical and Digital Estate. The joint investment programme is in excess of £1Bn. The Director of Estate Development is a leadership position that is fundamental to the successful delivery of this transformation and will lead a cross discipline internal team spanning Capital Development, Strategic Space Management and Workplace Transformation, and Strategic Property Management.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in an estates development leadership role across a diverse portfolio, with a track record of leading large-scale, complex capital investment programmes. Exceptional leadership capability and experience is essential, as the appointed candidate will establish and lead an integrated capital, space management and property function at a senior and strategic level. We are seeking an individual that can demonstrate proactive internal and external stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with credibility at an influential level.
