Role Overview
As the Director of Design Consultancy (Global), you will lead’s global design consultancy practice, steering strategic, creative, and client-facing design efforts across diverse geographies. This pivotal leadership role will position as a global thought leader in workspace design, delivering forward-thinking, culturally nuanced, and sustainable design solutions that resonate with international clients.
You will also act as a senior design advisor on key strategic Design & Build accounts, where your presence can influence client confidence, reinforce design intent, and advocate design leadership in high-impact engagements.
This role is particularly suited to professionals with significant international experience and global expertise & network.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the global vision for design consultancy function, aligned with the company’s mission and values.
- Act as a global thought leader, contributing to international design discourse and setting new benchmarks in workplace strategy and design excellence.
- Promote a culture of innovation, cross-cultural sensitivity, and high design quality across all geographies.
Global Client Engagement
- Lead high-stakes presentations, pitches, and strategic engagements with global clients.
- Collaborate closely with international clients to define project requirements and regional nuances in workplace design.
- Create innovative, context-aware design concepts, including mood boards, 3D visuals, and material palettes, tailored to different global markets.
- Offer expert advice on spatial programming, furniture systems, lighting, ergonomics, and sustainability, customized for various regional workstyles.
- Act as a trusted advisor to C-suite and leadership stakeholders, building long-term relationships that lead to repeat and referral business.
- Convert design consultancy engagements into turnkey design-and-build opportunities across global markets.
Key Account Design Advisory
- Serve as a senior advisor on select Design & Build projects especially strategic or high-value accounts ensuring design consistency, innovation, and alignment with client vision.
- Participate in key client meetings, pitches, and presentations where your presence can elevate credibility and demonstrate our design leadership.
- Advocate for approach to design, user experience, and sustainability in front of global clients and partners.
- Act as a design champion in integrated project teams, supporting business development and strategic account conversions.
Design Management
- Oversee the full lifecycle of global design consultancy projects from concept to completion, ensuring scalability, consistency, and regional relevance.
- Monitor project performance for quality, timeline, innovation, and budget alignment across different markets.
- Drive internal design reviews and audits to maintain global design quality standards.
Industry Trends and Innovation
- Stay ahead of international trends, materials, and workplace innovations across North America, Europe, APAC, and emerging markets.
- Integrate best-in-class sustainable and wellness practices (LEED, WELL, ESG) into design language.
- Represent in global design forums, awards, and international summits, showcasing cutting-edge work and building visibility.
Team Development
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing international design consultancy team.
- Foster a collaborative and diverse team culture that encourages global knowledge sharing, design excellence, and continuous learning.
- Attract and retain top global talent, ensuring the team remains agile, scalable, and ready to take on multi-regional projects.
What We Expect
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline.
- 12+ years of experience in workspace design consultancy, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing international clients/projects.
- Deep understanding of workplace strategy, user behavior, and hybrid work models across different cultures and countries.
- Demonstrated success in leading design strategy and delivery for large-scale, multi-geography projects.
- Certifications in sustainable and wellness design (LEED, WELL, etc.) preferred.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) and project collaboration tools.
- Outstanding communication, cultural intelligence, and executive presence.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
