Bid Manager – London or Swindon – £60,000 – £80,000
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Bid Manager to lead our bid team in achieving successful outcomes for each allocated tender. The ideal candidate will follow established processes and best practices within our organization, ensuring a coherent bid strategy in collaboration with the Business Development Manager and Sector Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Energize and drive the bid team towards successful tender outcomes.
- Develop and continually evaluate winning strategies, directing resources to enhance bid success.
- Oversee and contribute to the tender commercial strategy.
- Organize all necessary internal meetings using MS Outlook.
- Agree on bid budgets and monitor expenditures with the Head of Management.
- Manage the tender program, ensuring adherence to company and group governance and procedures.
- Produce and manage CRC documentation for submission to the Head of Bid Management.
- Assign and drive completion of action items arising from meetings.
- Undertake the corporate approval process with the Work Winning Director.
- Maintain communication with clients and third parties, managing interfaces with joint venture partners and key supply chains.
- Oversee designers and appoint specialist third parties as necessary.
- Manage risk and opportunity, ensuring output to ARM risk software.
- Collaborate with the commercial manager to achieve margin targets set within the business plan.
- Coordinate tender and post-tender meetings and interviews with clients.
- Ensure resources for quality submissions are in place and timescales are met.
- Manage and review the quality submission process.
- Provide tender feedback and manage the handover to the project delivery team for successful tenders.
- Use and follow formal meeting agendas and save presentations to the corporate database.
Additional Duties:
- Deputize for the Head of Bid Management as directed.
- Perform any other duties consistent with your status and seniority, as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Key Safety Responsibilities:
- Adhere to individual responsibilities for Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) matters.
Required Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of the UK construction market.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and civil engineering.
- Commercial awareness of different contract forms.
- Strong presentation and client communication skills.
- Knowledge of governance and procedural requirements for work winning.
