Position Overview:
The Associate Director is an ambitious and highly motivated project management expert, with a proven track record of high-quality delivery and client service mind-set. The core position remit is to expand and deliver services as a sector contributing to overall revenue growth and service offerings. This leadership support role assumes the overall vision responsibility of working with stakeholders within the firm to oversee the planning, strategizing and deployment of a healthy project management service.
What you will be doing:
- As required, step up into the Director of Operations role in their absence, undertaking their roles and responsibilities.
- Develop a team that can support and collaborate with the Leadership Team and partners with other disciplines and operations of the company.
- Direct team proposal preparation and presentations and negotiations with clients or potential partners.
- Further develop PMC and PMO procedures and tools to cope with the Digital Delivery transition and final
- future state and establish BIM as a method of delivery in the PMC sector and PMO as a whole.
- In alignment with Director of Operations support in the CEO’s Mission and Vision requirements and initiatives with strategic planning to ensure the firm is well-positioned in project management services.
- Manage and deliver the services for the PMC sector as a portfolio of projects drawing on internal
- resources or hiring resources on projects and then releasing them at the end of each project cycle.
- Manage public relations and client interface to promote a positive corporate image among the firm’s existing and potential clients and markets.
- Manages and builds on relationships with managers and key executives of existing companies and
- governmental authorities to enhance overall business development efforts.
- Prepare winning writeups and proposals for PMC services, either as standalone service, or augmented within and along with design services or supervision services.
- Support and drive forward the ‘People First’ mandate within Vision and Mission. Where required to
- amend and implement the strategic goals of the mandate.
- Support the Business Development team to identify and pursue opportunities.
- Support the Director of Operations in creating a flexible growth strategy that identifies current gap areas and develops plans to acquire, grow, and develop internal team talent to meet current and future needs.
- To also support growth, by providing professional advice, counsel, and decisions, analysing information and situations.
Required Experience:
- 15 years of related experience, with a strong background in Project Management.
- Ideally, has worked in a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
- Proven experience in development of project management functions.
- Proven management experience, including managing budgets, staffing levels, quality and metrics.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate BIM philosophy into team’s work and function.
- Experience of large project proposals execution involving design in a 3D Model / BIM environment.
- Has Software experience using CAD, Revit, Primavera, MS Project.
- Has significant knowledge and experience of scheduling, planning methods and tools.
- Has significant knowledge and experience of conditions of contracts, design processes and standards.
- Understands International codes and standards, local regulations and standards related to projects.
Education:
- Degree educated in design, engineering or another technical discipline.
- Post graduate business management qualifications is desired.
Certifications & Memberships:
- Additional training courses, professional and personal development with membership to professional groups, societies or institutes, desired.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute (PMI).
- Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) Membership or Any local Engineer's society membership (for hiring outside Kuwait).
Essential Skills:
- A strong communicator in English, clear, precise and engaging both verbally and in written form. Arabic is an advantage.
- Ability to manage project management staff, navigating through a strong PMC proposal and delivery process.
- Ability to express complex concepts effectively to the business, yet technical enough to have a detailed review of proposals and approaches with business resources.
- Ability to oversee multiple concurrent deliverables of team/SME, develop internal/external relationships, establish cross-team partnerships.
- Experience leading large complex cross-functional programmes.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities to maintain a balance between day to day operations, projects and strategic development.
- Client service mind-set and excellent business acumen.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem solving and influencing skills.
- Experience to establish self in the role as a trusted advisor.
- Build and develop relationships both internally and externally, relied upon to get things done in an ever changing, fast-paced business environment.
- Strong negotiation and team-building skills with the ability to create consensus and alignment whilst mitigating conflicts across different teams.
