The Estates and Facilities Directorate is core to the University’s strategic ambition to provide a world-class managed estate with excellent facilities for students and staff. As part of the QMUL’s ambitious Strategy 2030, extensive focus will be placed on enhancing, growing and better utilising the QMUL estate portfolio to create a physical environment that supports our position as an inclusive, world-class university.
Reporting to the Director of Campus and Commercial Services, the Assistant Director of Engineering & Estates Management will lead the delivery of engineering services across the entire estate. Ensuring that buildings are safe, compliant, resilient, well maintained and present as an attractive campus environment for the benefit of students, staff and visitors. The role will be crucial to the development and delivery of energy management, and energy asset efficiency programmes to reduce the University’s Impact on the environment.
This strategic role gives the postholder autonomy for defining, executing and monitoring a number of business-critical strategies including – Campus Infrastructure Master-Planning, Technical Leadership, Long Term Maintenance Programme, Energy reduction/De-Carbonisation, Fire Safety and Campus Hard Services & Maintenance.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer and possess a proven track record in delivering high standards of hard service delivery across a similarly diverse and complex estate. You will be an adept leader, with strong people management skills who can develop effective internal and external relationships.
