The LSE Estates Division plays a pivotal role in shaping the university's future. Responsible for developing and implementing the LSE Estates Strategy to align with the School's strategic objectives, it is integral to campus services.
LSE is on the verge of an exciting transformation, characterised by a planned capital investment program and building refurbishments that encompass centralising facilities services across both the academic and residential estate. This significant change demands dynamic leadership, and the Assistant Director of Facilities Management will be at the forefront of this evolution.
In this role, the Assistant Director of Facilities Management will be instrumental in transforming Estates into a client-focused integrated services provider, enhancing the value it delivers to the entire university community. Responsibilities will include shaping the vision, strategy, and operating model for the facilities section and contributing to the strategic development of Estates. The Division's mission is to deliver best-practice services across all sections, and the post holder will be responsible for benchmarking and enhancing services to achieve this objective.
The position entails shared line management responsibility for a diverse range of functions, including cleaning, post room, sportsground, reprographics, security, porters, sustainability, and facilities staff, totalling over 200 employees. Additionally, overseeing the day-to-day management of several outsourced contracts.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills. They should have a proven track record in effectively running facilities management departments and managing large and complex estates, demonstrating proficiency in budget, resource and project management.
